EIEP4A Medically Dependant Customer Information - ARC Update

EIEP4A Implementation on ARC: Outages creation workflow

Starting on the 1st of April, the Electricity Authority requires electricity retailers to utilise the newly introduced (and regulated) EIEP4A protocol. This file details medically dependent consumer information. Despite a relatively compressed timeline from the final specification release we got to work to quickly design, build, and test implementation of this critical information throughout ARC platform for usage by distributors.

ARC is well known for acting as an intermediary between our customer's and the New Zealand Electricity Registry, so it was of high importance we quickly implemented this new protocol in our Core platform, enabling this data to flow across of our other modules - ensuring vital data is made operationally available to all of our customers.

This included:

  • Compliant download, parsing, error handling & loading of incoming EIEP4A files
  • Order-of-precedence logic and handling to deal with conflicts and switch-over scenarios with EIEP4 files
  • Integration of EIEP4A information with ICP data, search and dashboard
  • Implementation of EIEP4A information as part of the ARC: Outages module
  • Implementation of EIEP4A information as part of the ARC: Works module
  • Updates to API layer, allowing external application triggered events to have context of medically dependent customers

As part of our standard ARC Partners service every one of our customers received this update automatically, all at once, and at no additional cost. The new functionality was deployed into their environments in time for the deadline, empowering their ARC installation to automatically load, validate, and utilise this information.
